Classical Hit by Jowybean Classical Hit by Jowybean

:Phew: I am feeling a lot better :) since Sunday ready to get back in to my normal routine of doing high quality pony art lol. ;)

Its going to a awesome B-) pony filled year for Jowybean I can feel it in my bones.

Tonight i start off 2014 with a comic parodying another Classic Peanuts strip that had Schroeder in it . this strip makes me simile. What am i saying any peanut strip I read makes me simile.

UPDATE: i changed the pun name of pothoven to Baythoven because a lot of you pointed out that it was ruining the impact of the joke which i agree now after reading it again.

in all honestly i am bad at writing funny stuff but i am going to try my hand at more humour comics this year and think before i post. :stupidme:

Here’s my pervious Peanuts inspired pony comic for those who have not seen it its very different to this one…

I experimented with my use of natural lighting by setting the comic under some foliage to add a different mood to the overall art.

Check out my FIM title card project…

As it currently stands (Jan 3 2014):
Tavi putting up with Vynil's antics like this is a bit common, but that's because it works as well as it does most of the time, even if it isn't as impactful as it once was when it first started to take off in 2011. Still, the Tavi-Scratch relationship is a major staple of the fandom for a reason.

Everything is beautifully rendered. That's what really makes this pack a punch. Abso-bucking-lutely gorgeous.

The thing that really lets it down (rather disproportionally to the rest of the work, I might add), is the choice of ponification pun for Beethoven. It very easily could have been Beethooven, or even Beethoofen to make it a bit more obviously intentional. Either one would resemble Beethoven much better than Pothoven, which really reads more readily as "poth-oven" or "pot-oven." I'm pretty sure that's not what you're going for, here. It's the only thing that keeps this from reading well as a comic, and it really gets in the way of Tavi's monologue making much contextual sense for her character, because "Who's 'Pot-oven'?" was all that was going through my mind until after I finished reading it and realized, "Oh, wait, is that supposed to be a play on 'Beethoven'? Really?"
What do you think?

As a comic, it doesn't hold up well; I'm not sure what's tying the set-up to the punchline.  Is a concert being held outside near the path Octavia's on?  Or does Vinyl practice in the middle of an empty landscape?

Still, I love how you draw Octavia in motion, panel 2 especially, so I'll be saving this in my MLP art folder reserved for pieces without story telling and dialogue.

Haha! Or "Neighthoven" since it's a sound and music = sound? I do like the sound of Beethooven better though.

ANYHOW! Let's not let that stand in the way of the artwork itself! It's great :D I love the contrast of colors and linework to emphasize calm and serenity vs loud and disruptive. Very well done

Okay, now it sounds like Beethoven at least, but the pun itself doesn't really make obvious sense…Bay? As in, hay? Bhaythoven might work for that visually (it would still be pronounced the same), but then it doesn't really translate to a pun when spoken, like Beethoofen would (compare bay-toe-vin with bait-hoof-in). If it's not a pun with Hay, then I'm afraid the pun might be a bit too obscure for most. Still need to work on your Equestrian puns! Getting warmer, though. Pretty sure Celestia has a royally appointed ministry to ensure that any and all applicable puns are applied whenever opportunities arise for their use. Don't want to see her send you…to tha moooooon-ah!

p.s. I'm pretty sure Beethoofen has been used before, there's really no shame in using it here. No need to re-invent the wheel, and no shame in using what already works.

Does Vinyl just follow Octavia around so she can drop mad beats on her at random?
