Meet the Bolts by Jowybean Meet the Bolts by Jowybean
Decided tonight at my Birmingham Brony meet up (that was insane by the way B-)) I would try and create a finished illustration then my rather sketchy random doodles.

I recently have found myself attached to the relationship between Dashie and Scoots it is rather adorable :aww: .And I wanted to create a scene showing that in a different context. Here it’s dash introducing Scootaloo to a wonderblot (possibly soarin) during a gala event.

This was a challenge to see how I faired with my traditional shading. Because sometimes it feels like even with my skill in digital painting that I have lost some of my formal art training in handmade media. So its nice to go back to my roots once in while =D I do plan on creating more traditional pieces in the future  :eager: and not just ponies either. ;p

Check out my FIM title card project jowybean.deviantart.com/galler…

Until next deviation LATERS Friends :peace:

is this Cute :meow: Win :winner: Fail :crying:

I think you did fairly well on the shading. Because this is a fanart, I'll give you four stars, but you did a good job of making an interesting scene.
The main problem I have with this is that the wonder bolt pony's head is cut off. I'm not sure if you drew it that way to make it seem like s/he was tall and impressive or just mysterious, but you could have drawn his/her head and still made the wonder bolt seem impressive (i.e., drawing him taller).
Also, the wonder bolt pony's feet are flat and standing right on the horizon line. For a better sense of depth, you could have drawn the feet on the floor, lower down and not directly on the line.
The shading is good, but I feel you could have made it smoother (paper stump or more finger smudging?).
I don't know what vision means...I'll put a five.
Impact is four because the pony's head is missing.
Overall, I think this is very good, and Scootaloo looks so cute! Keep up the good work!
What do you think?

Not bad for a returning effort, i'd say you did very well on the traditional shading. And the scene is just so adorable, i love it!

That's RD? Crap, she almost looks like Applejack XD. I'm seeing RD's dress and grape necklace (yes, I call it that), and I'm seeing AJ's mane and her lack of freckles XD.

Amazing drawing!
