No Wings and magic :FIM title cards series by Jowybean No Wings and magic :FIM title cards series by Jowybean
“When all the truth does is make your heart ache, Sometimes a lie Is easier to take.”

I would actually like puppet toys of mane 6 :meow:. In my opinion i kind of made them more adorable then i wanted to.:|

ABOUT time for another 2 parter card i hear some of you say in the comments. ;p

Like the more recent title cards i have done this one was another challenging design to pull off because of the perceptive on the maze and my style of digital painting :P. My skills in digital painting have improved a lot since i started this project back in October. (among other things).

To give you some behind the scenes stuff I am going to record the whole process of my next title card on my YouTube account. Goodness knows how many videos it will be even sped up (this illustration took 2 days to compete). :phew:

MLP title cards because the creative team behind the show deserves it.

I want to make one for every episode with its own quirky style that best suits that particular episode. So far I have managed almost all of season one and bits of season 2 and 3.

At some point I am going to go back and edit the older cards to be up to par with the standard of my newer ones because some of the designs and finishes really bug me especially Sleepless in Ponyville. :x

I know I repeat myself a lot in descriptions but that’s how Jowy :roll:s

and always shall..... sometimes :?

Until next deviation LATERS Bronies :peace:

First of all, the shapes you used to characterize each element in the picture were rather precise. The Mane Six's diminutive size, smaller legs and eyes help to paint them as isolated, vulnerable puppets to the will of Discord. And speaking of Discord, the different technique you used to draw him helps to make him feel more threatening, and it helps that he's higher, arching over our helpless victims, which reinforces the fact that he's the one in power, and that to challenge him would be folly.

I'm a little confused by the font, though. "The Return of" is in a nice curvy font, yet "Harmony" is more twisted and crude. I guess you meant that as symbolism of harmony and its counterpart incarnate.

The color also deserves props. While Discord has an ominous shadow to further accentuate his nefarious personality, the Mane Six are still fairly brightly colored, with a glimmer of hope that's soon to disappear.

Contrast? Well, you definitely pointed out that the maze (and the overarching puppeteer) is the object of focus, the landscape behind can just go. But I feel it's little bit too much contrast. Chaos is just over the horizon, just waiting to be released, yet it doesn't get much focus.

I do have one nitpick. Discord right arm is a lion's paw, not an eagle's talons. And there are no feathers on him arms. Also, Discord IS a draconequus. He's noted not only for his dastardly plans and purpose, but also his peculiar appearance. I just wish there were more of him to see, maybe even his face.

I am not sure if this is any sort of a reward, but you are literally the first person I have ever given five stars, all across the board, for. Take pride in that fact.

To begin this critique, I will talk about the vision. With this, the vision is very clear and defined, which I will comment on in a bit. It stays on focus with the episode's point. But what stood out to me is just how far you went to make sure it is fully centered on the point; I noticed that the only distinguishable thing is the maze itself, and the background is simply an expanse. It will make us search for a focal point. But what I found to be very interesting is that Discord's hands (or talons (or talon-paws)) seem to be the center piece of it all, yet the point of the episode was the maze . . . or was it? You seem to have proven you know your stuff, as the point was not the maze, but the fact that Discord made it seem that way. Very, very nice.

In the Originality section, I am not sure that there can be any other way to say how original it is; it is something that no one else does. The premise is original, so therefore the piece is.

The group "Technique" can elude me many times, so I will do my best to understand it. There are many ways you could have done this picture, but you decided to do it like this, with Discord as the focal point and the main six being those odd stick figure pony . . . things from the season two finale. I can see that you at know an unimaginable amount of how to symbolize things, and I am enjoying every moment of it. Also, it seems that you have a sense of humour as well; I noticed that Pinkie Pie is the only pony looking at Discord, like she knows he is there controlling the show. The Pinkie Sense reigns supreme once again.

The Impact of this picture is exactly as you wanted it to be; I can tell what the main idea of the episode is just from looking at this. There is no discrepancy as to what the point is at all, and if I were not a Brony, I would be unimaginably interested in the show and especially this episode. But I also get a small sense of despair from this, something we feel later on in the episode. If this is what you wanted me to feel, then you did your job right.

I would like to thank you for drawing such a fantastic piece of work, and look forward to the next installment in the series.

I like how you made all the strings straight, all except Fluttershy's. I love how Fluttershy's string is wavy, I can tell you made sure to show how Discord had trouble with Fluttershy and none of the others.

ya know, i never did quite understand why the episode was named as such. Harmony technically never left, if anything the episode should have been called "the return of chaos"

Maybe they named it after the return of the EoH to the screen, or just because it was the return of the show for its second season, i don't know. i just think they could/should have picked a name that better fit the episode.

This image reminds me so much of the song "Discord". Especially the beginning lines "I'm not a fan puppeteers, but I've a nagging fear someone else is pulling at the strings".
