Tale As Old As Time

Before I say anything, I just want to say I already think very highly of this picture. If I did not, I wouldn't bother 'critiqueing' it. So even if I'm not giving it a perfect score in Vision and Originality, I hope you're aware of that.

There are a few things that make it somewhat awkward for me, the first is that luna's eyes are really more of a blueish teal than a moss green. Celestia's expression is at just the right moment for it to feel like she blinked in the middle of a photo. The background is sketchy, and that's usually fine because it's not the focus of the image, but in this case it seems to deviate from the clean disney-esque style present in the foreground/characters. This is especially jarring if you look at Luna's pillow and then the banister of the bed.

On a positive note, the anatomy is pretty much spot on, or at least as spot on as it can be for somewhat anthropomorphized magical horses. It communicates emotion instead of just looking emotionally manipulative. The color and atmosphere are also nice touches.

Really, the biggest positive for this picture is that in spite of its flaws, there's still a lot to love about it, most of it seems intangible (but I'm not really an artist, so I may lack perspective) but you can still feel its presence.
