Wow I cannot believe how long its been since I even watched that anime 
with the yelling and the exploding and mutating baby thing the manga is better then the film the animation is still beautiful but if we are talking about plot the manga wins in this case.
I do own a lot of Katsuhiro Otomo books but this one still is my favourite because it was the first one i read.
